Purpose:  To retrieve, collect, catalogue and index as much information about the history of Maerdy and the South Wales Valleys in the form of documents, maps, photographs, artifacts and newsclippings. We then provide exhibitions throughout the year.
Activities:  The group which consists of a committee of 15 members and to date a total of 56 members meet every Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Seion Chapel Maerdy. Anyone who wishes to see any documents, photographs may do so, on the premises. We have around 60 folders each containing around 60 -100 photocopies. We also work in unison with Treorchy Reference Library, which have been very helpful.

Facilities:  Wheelchair access and disabled toilets.
Membership:  Anyone with in interest in local history is welcome.
Charges: Small charge for photocopying and refreshments.
